About Me

My path into wine has definitely been an adventure!! I'm originally from a small town in Northern Ontario, Canada, but left after high school to study at an American university in Paris, France. This is where I first fell in love with wine, Saint-Émilion to be precise. After graduation, it was off to Japan to teach for just a year, but my fascination with the culture and determination to understand it kept me there for 20 years as a applied linguistics and intercultural communications university teacher. At the same time, I also set-up and ran my own NGO in Cambodia that provided language studies, teaching training and career counseling to disadvantage youth, basically living in two countries with two different lives for 7 years. Once my NGO had completed its mission and I had gone as far as I could in academia, I was at a crossroads in my career, so it was then the perfect chance to return to my passion for wine.
However, where do you start when you're new to wine? It's an incredibly fascinating world, but as a newcomer it was completely overwhelming. My first step was to get the basics, so I ended up in Singapore to complete my WSET2 certificate and spent countless weekends doing tastings at my local wine shop in Tokyo. I was then completely hooked on wine, and was determined to make a career out of it. I then thought that there's no better place in the world to study wine than in Bordeaux, so I'm now at INSEEC completing an MBA in Wine Marketing and Management.
For those who are new to wine or have had an enduring passion for it, my website offers advice on how to approach your wine studies and getting qualified to enter the industry, as well as to offer some of my own insights from my wine studies, travels, tastings, and other wine wanderings. Grab a glass and enjoy!
